Debra Heinzelman commented on Greg Schneider's video
"Very touched by this video and sending on to our local hospices and hospitals.  Every moment we wait to start a program, "no one dies alone", many are dying without companionship and love.  Thanks, once again, Greg!  Bless you!"

"Greg, I love your comment about the patient asking you to quit talking.  I have had patients that see right through anyone who tries to be nice to them just because they are in hospice.  A recent patient who is 88 just went white water rafting last…"

"Welcome Susan!  I am going through the exact same thing with my father -- it seems that the harder I try to make sure he is happy, the less I accomplish.  I live in Marquette and my father lives in Grand Rapids.  The distance is devastating to me. …"

Nowadays, you can't trust Caller ID anyway. Scammers are adding any ID they want to add. It's called spoofing. Check out the video below. Wait for brief commercial to…"

  • Hi Debra,

Thanks for responding.  Frances also sent me an e-mail with several places to contact.  It's just such a shame that we're now into a time where more and more of us are beginning to have to care for our elderly and there really is nothing out there for the actual caregiver.   Personally, I've had to leave my home, my friends, my little cleaning job...my life.  I've come 400 miles to take care of my dad but, he has to take care of me monetarily!!  Now I'm told I should see a counselor...at $75 an hour!!!  I feel just as much of a dependent as he feels now!  I'm pretty sure neither of us are particularly happy to be dependent on some else now.  He thinks the counselor is a bunch of doo-doo.  (Not his word!!)  He thinks I should just call somebody from back home if I want to talk to somebody...God love 'im.

Well, time to put my big girl pants on and get back now.  Thanks for the "eye" and I hope to "see" you again soon.

    Keep Smiling...Stay Happy!

    Sue

  • I live in Flint and our location serves the area surrounding Flint.  Nice to meet you.  On another note, I received an email that you were moderating a Michigan group.  How would I go about finding this?  I'm at a loss.  Thanks!

Those who companion suffering daily, such as hospice nurses and volunteers, will surely appreciate this beautiful work. With 62 original art collages by Rashani Réa, five beautiful chapters by Kathy Douglas, and a foreword by Jean Watson, this exquisite book is a peaceful refuge for contemplation, inquiry, reflection and inspiration for those who traverse the joys and sorrows of nursing.

Kathy Douglas, RN, MPH-HA is a nationally recognized nurse leader, filmmaker and entrepreneur.

Rashani Réa is a prolific artist and musician, a creatrice of sanctuaries and a respected spiritual mentor.

“This is a beloved book and beyond a book. It is an evocative, poetic, ecstatic, and inspirited sacred, experiential calling. A calling to you--YES, YOU.”

— Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, Living Legend (AAN)

“Those who companion suffering daily need to turn inward to metabolize what they have witnessed. This exquisite book, filled with beautiful images and poetic wise words, is the inspiration and support needed to grow a wise heart.”

— Frank Ostaseski, founder and director of the Metta Institute and author of The Five Invitations: Discovering What Death Can Teach Us About Living Fully

“In this unique time of the COVID-19 pandemic, this book should be considered a tribute to the tremendous courage being displayed by nurses around the world. There is much wisdom conveyed throughout by those who have been there serving others with such grace.”
