Volunteering from Home

I have a potential volunteer whose husband died on our program 2 years ago. She does not drive but wants to give back to our hospice for all the wonderful care she and her family received.  I have come up with a need that she could help our bereavement department with and that is making reminder telephone calls to send in the berreavement surveys  She would work from home and rarely come into the office.  Does anyone know if she needs to have the same medical clearance as all other volunteers such as PPD, medical exam, MMR?   Thank you

  • Good mornning Debra,
Volunteers are required to have proof of immunity to rubella and for those born after 1957 proof of measles and mumps; 2-step PPD (for new volunteers, PPD each year after), initial health assessment form completed by their physician.
  • I am curious to know the "medical clearance" you speak about? What exactly do you require, medically, for a volunteer? Thank you. Debra
