  • Sorry...misunderstood the relationship. Either way, your value will likely increase by just going with the flow, keeping your heart open to those moments where you can make a difference without him feeling you are infringing.

    Best wishes.
  • Mary, it sounds like there is a lot of transition in your family right now. I will keep you all in my prayers.
  • its not my sister it is my brother in law sister. But, my twin day will come because she too is in nursing home
  • Hi Mary:

Welcome to the HCF. The best thing to do is just support your brother-in-law in any way you can without explicitly telling him your there to help -- if he seems to want to do it himself. As time goes on, your presence will open him up. Patiently waiting for those moments can be hard as you watch your sister dying.

I don't know what your sister's current condition is but is she is still able to talk to you, encouraging her to express her needs and wishes (not specifically directed at trying to convince her husband to be more cooperative with you and others and let them help). If you have sister-to-sister conversations that he may be within earshot of, he will see the benefit of your support and get a better understanding of your sister's needs and how best to support her with you.

Assist in the care a day at a time...without expectation...letting your heart guide you, can work miracles.

Keep us posted on your journey...there are many here to help guide you.

Many blessings to you and your family,
